How long does it take for water to boil? This can depend on a number of different factors. The type of pot or container you are using will greatly effect the amount of time it is needed for water to reach it’s boiling point. For example a very thick heavy cast iron pot absorbs allot of the heat in the early stages and thus requires allot of time before it starts to transfer the heat to the water compared to a very thin aluminum pot which almost transfers heat instantly. So a the type of pot can greatly increase the time needed to boil water.
Volume of water will also factors in, a small amount of water will boil much sooner than a large quantity.
The heat source will also greatly effect the time it takes for water to start boiling. Some heat sources can be much more efficient that others, transferring the heat at a much greater rate. Example natural gas versus electric heat sources, as well as the temperature the heat source is set to.
